$125,000 in Grants Awarded for 2024-2025

JWF-NJ is pleased to announce that it has awarded 5 large grants in its 2024-2025 Spring Grants Cycle:

$25K to the Boys and Girls Club of Newark for “Girls Swim Strong” – a project that will teach girls basic swim skills to ensure water safety; $25K to CUMAC ECHO for “Expanding Comprehensive Case Management at CUMAC” – a project that will pilot a case management system for food-insecure women at a trauma-informed pantry; $25K to Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault Crisis Center (DASACC) for “Building Comfort, Peace, and Independence for Warren County Survivors of Domestic Violence” – a project that will provide comfort items and appliances at an emergency shelter, including a swing set, dining room set, and commercial washer/dryer; $25K to Perinatal Health Equity Initiative for “Mamas in Bloom” – a  project that will provide community healthcare visits for 50 Black mothers in their prenatal and postpartum periods; $25K to Trinitas Foundation for “Breast Cancer Services for Impoverished Women” – a  project that will provide lymphedema and mastectomy products for breast cancer patients. $41,000 Awarded in Israel and Locally in Fall 2023

JWF-NJ is pleased to announce that it has recently awarded 7 grants: $24,000 to local organizations and $18,000 in Israel Emergency Grants: $5K to Girls in Gear for “Girls in Gear; Geared Up in Essex County!”; $5K to Moms Helping Moms Foundation for “Safe Start”; $4K to RENEW Life Center for “Equipment for Career Development Program”; $5K to Turning Point Community Services for “Bed Bug Protective Waterproof Foam Mattresses for Women’s Shelter in Irvington, NJ”; $5K to YWCA of Eastern Union County for “Urgent Transportation Support for Domestic Violence Survivors”; $9K to Partners of Fallen IDF Soldiers in Israel; $9K to Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel. $117,000 in Grants Awarded for 2023-2024

JWF-NJ is pleased to announce that it has awarded five large grants in its 2023-24 Spring Grants Cycle:

$25K to the Barat Foundation for Creation Nation Girls in Tech – a Newark-based project to teach girls engineering and utilization of 3D printers, arts and entrepreneurship skills; $17K to Girls Helping Girls. Period. for Period Equity and Sustainability – a project to introduce the use of menstrual cups to women and girls and provide necessary hygiene products; $25K to KinderSmile for Perinatal Health and Wellness Program at KinderSmile Community Oral Health Center Bloomfield – a project to provide free dental care to perinatal and postpartum women and educate them in the importance of oral health; $25K to Montclair State Foundation’s Global Center on Human Trafficking for The Possibilities Program—Building Human Trafficking Survivor Leadership – a project that gathers teen victims of trafficking for workshops on self-sufficiency, college and career-readiness; and $25K to Sharsheret for Customized Breast Cancer and Ovarian Cancer Quality of Life Kits – a project that provides free, customizable support kits to women facing cancer.

Four New JWF Small Grants Awarded to New Jersey Nonprofits

March 27, 2022

Braven Inc., Helping Women Build Social Capital through Braven’s Accelerator Course, $2,500 Accelerated course to help women and girls to prepare, identify and pursue their career goals.

Homeless Solutions, Inc., Homeless Solutions Emergency Services, $2,500 Funds will be invested in our Emergency Shelter Services, specifically the essentials that keep our homeless children safe and healthy – baby diapers/wipes/formula, baby/infant clothes, and child car seats/strollers.   Our “baby closet” of basic supplies helps reduce the stress on the mothers and their family budget.

Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest, Dignity Grows MetroWest Chapter, $2,500 JWF Funds will be used to purchase the Dignity Totes – containing personal hygiene products for women and girls that volunteers will put together and distribute to clients in need. 

Oasis-A Haven for Women and Children, Oasis Girl Code $1,625 Cycle of workshops for girls to build their self-esteem

The total amount awarded in this JWF Small Grants cycle was $9,125.
