Grant Guidelines
Alignment With Our Core Values
- The Jewish Women’s Foundation of New Jersey (JWF-NJ) is an advisory council of the Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) of Greater MetroWest. As such, JWF-NJ adheres to all guidelines established by the JCF, as detailed below.
- JWF-NJ recommends grants to 501(c)(3) public charities as recognized by the IRS – secular, Jewish, local and otherwise – subject to the exceptions below.
- The Board of Trustees of the JCF reserves the right to suspend funding to any organization that it deems to not meet the core values of JCF, which is the planned giving and endowment arm of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest.

JWF-NJ does not fund organizations that are contrary to its core values, or that through their mission, activities or partnerships:
1. Endorse or promote antisemitism, other forms of bigotry, violence or other extremist views;
2. Actively seek to proselytize Jews away from Judaism; or,
3. Advocate for, or endorse, undermining the legitimacy of Israel as a secure independent, democratic Jewish state, including through participation in the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, in whole or in part.
Eligibility and Restrictions
- Applicants must be 501(c)3 organizations or those with a fiscal agent with their own 501(c)3. Legal opinion letters of nonprofit status are not sufficient.
- An organization must use funds to support projects for any of the following communities: self-identifying women or girls, gender non-conforming individuals in a female space, women with their children. Projects should be tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals in these communities and should not merely include them, even if they make up the majority of those involved.
- JWF-NJ focuses its support in Northern-Central New Jersey, including: Essex, Morris, and Union counties. Requests originating from nearby geographic areas in-state may also be considered.
- JWF-NJ funds both sectarian and non-sectarian organizations. An organization need not be Jewish to receive a grant.
- An organization's overall support and inclusion of women and girls in leadership, on boards, and in key staff positions is considered.
- No grants are awarded to individuals.
- JWF-NJ does not fund political campaigns or organizations such as PACs, capital campaigns, or endowments.
- JWF-NJ does not make loans or award scholarships/tuition reimbursements, nor do we provide sponsorships or buy tickets/tables for special events or international travel.
